Hi, I'm trying to make an analysis on spurs gears, and to make the computational cost lower I'm trying to make a cyclic symmetry, but I have an error every time I make the mesh...
I try to make the symmetry with only one gear and it works, so I don't know if its possible to make the symmetry simulation as I wanted. So, the question is: Is it possible? How? |

Hi,
I can think of the problem WB is having while solving for two spur gears. I believe, you are applying cyclic symmetry according to one CS. When it considers second gear, the second one is also applied with the same cyclic symmetry which is representation of wrong physics as it may consider interfering gears. Let me know your objective so that I can guide you. In past, I have worked for such project but we did 1/8th symmetry model and then you can expand it. Probably Ansys APDL would be a better in terms of handling the symmetry option. Regards, Rajendra Desserve Engineering www.desservees.com cfd@desservees.com fea@desservees.com |

I'm trying to estimate the stress on the root and tip of the gears for static and cyclic operation. In order to reduce the computational time I was trying to make that cut of the gears and use the symmetry option.
