Hi,
I am looking to perform a transient thermal analysis for convection. I have experimentally noted the values of temperature with respect to time and then plotted a straight line that gave me the function: y = 4.1837x + 16.818. How do I use this function and perform a transient thermal analysis for convection? I am assuming, the x in the function represents Ambient Temperature and I am suppose to input this function in Film Coefficient, correct me if I am wrong on these two points. I tried inputting the function but it kept giving me the error that x is not defined. How do I define x? I would really appreciate the help. Thank you. |

The information provided doesn't give any idea about the model or system you're working on (any images would help massively).. the comment is based on quite a few deductions/ assumptions..
However, the convective heat transfer equation usually has film coefficient as known unless you have the convective heat transfer rate empirically calculated somehow.. also you mentioned that you plotted temperature vs time and generated a function... how would you expect 'x' to be anything else than time? Also the error is quite clear, there is no 'x' defined.. transient thermal would fundamentally only have time as an independent variable.. You would need to apply the linear function in the body temperature field, as: 4.1837*time+16.818.. and the film coefficient would probably have to be taken from reference or standard air/ fluid forced/ free etc. values.. this in the end would solve to provide you the convective heat transfer rate.. |
