Strange post processing resuls for parallel computation of Onera M6 tutorial

Sorry for posting this query in optimization section, but there wasn't any better location with installation and announcements being the only other sections for SU2.

There seems to be some issue with using parallel computation for ONERAM6 tutorial. I used 2 parallel processes for this case. The flow.vtk file shows strange structure around the wing when viewed in paraview. This did not happen in case of 2D flows. Could there be some problem while merging the solutions of the two domains?
If anyone has faced the same problem or has answer to this problem, please help.

Better use plt file.
vtk file is not supported now.

Hi,

Indeed, we are moving toward supporting Tecplot files and CGNS as our open file format. Many improvements have been made to the Tecplot ASCII writer already, and the next several developer releases should contain more upgrades in the binary formats (such as faster/cleaner file merging in parallel, removal of partition boundaries in the files, etc.).

I just linked cgns lib and the flow.cgns can be viewed by paraview. I prefer use VisIt instead.

So did you make modifications in the source code? Because as far as I know SU2 only gives output in .plt and .vtk formats, also csv for the history file.

Only need to ChangE in cfg file to specify output in cgns format.

The developers' version of SU2 includes a brand new paraview output. If you have a while, please check out the new code https://github.com/su2code

Hi Francisco,

I compiled the latest version from github. But I do not get .vtk files in the output even when I specify PARAVIEW as OUTPUT_FORMAT.

Do I need to link any libraries to the code in order to do this?

Figured it out. Just had to run

./SU2_SOL config_file.cfg

after renaming the restart_flow.dat to solution_flow.dat.
