Hello,
I'm running SU2 4.1.0 in parallel and I wonder if there's a way to generate solution files for 2 cases: 1. The solver reaches the maximum number of iterations without convergence. 2. The calculation overall has reached a prescribed walltime. The thing is, whenever the calculation doesn't converge in the allocated max iterations the solver only creates a restart file... which I can't directly open in paraview (or is there a restart_flow_to_vtk tool?). Whenever the calculation goes beyond the walltime, SU2 is terminated by the cluster mods. Thanks, Oliver |

Hi Oliver,
if you run SU2_CFD in parallel there will always be just a restart file. You have to use SU2_SOL to create the flow.dat or flow.vtk which you can then open with Tecplot/Paraview. Tim |

Thanks!
I always use 'python parallel_computation.py -f cfgfile -n nprocs' so I never really used the "vtk generator" since it's done automatically. So this means I can actually erase the solutions and just keep the restart files? nice! I'll have to learn how to use the SU2_SOL tool, but I think it's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again. Hi Oliver,
if you haven't changed the default file names you have to copy restart_flow.dat to solution_flow.dat first. Then just run SU2_SOL. Tim |
