Hello friends
How can I export a geometry file from tecplot to Design Modeler ? Thank you for your advice. |

If Design Modeler can import Wavefront OBJ or STL files, you could use FE_to_OBJ.py or FE_to_STL.py available on Tecplot's GitHub site here: https://github.com/Tecplot/handyscri...dataconversion
These scripts require PyTecplot to be installed. https://www.tecplot.com/docs/pytecplot/install.html Regards, Scott |

Dear friend, Design Modeler does not read STL or OBJ files.
I exported the geometry coordinates from the Tecplot as a text file to import it into Design Modeler, but Design Modeler won't open it. Do you know another method to introduce ? Thankyou |

Looking at the ANSYS DesignModeler documentation it looks like they can import IGES files - you might try any of a number of STL to IGES converters that are available via Google search. That's the best I can offer at this time.

Dear friend,
I am fully aware that Design modeler can read IGES format. But the problem is how can I convert to this format. I exportes the coordinates of XYZ geometry points from the Tecplot, which is in the form of a text file. How can I convert this text file into geometry in Design Modeler software ? |

Arash,
Tecplot does not have a tool to export data in IGES format. The best we can do at this point is offer the aforementioned solution of exporting to STL or OBJ - and then trying to find a utility to convert from those formats to IGES. My recommendation at this point would be to contact ANSYS support to see if they have a solution. While I can’t vouch for this solution, you might try an online converter like this one (which I found by Google search): https://anyconv.com/stl-to-iges-converter/ |

my dear friend,
I don't have the geometry STL file and I only have the XYZ geometry data file in text format. How can I convert text file to STL ? |

Arash,
I think I misunderstood your initial issue. If you only have XYZ coordinates then I think you'll need a mesh generator (Pointwise?) or similar to convert the XYZ values to something that can be used by CAD. Again, I think contacting ANSYS support is your best option. Scott |

Do you have a link to it ? |

They have a support page on their website: https://www.ansys.com/support.
