IO designs, engineers, and delivers data center infrastructure for the world's
largest enterprises, governments, and service providers. IO owns and operates
data centers for hundreds of customers, and has leveraged this experience to
build a next-generation Data Center 2.0 cloud enabling technology platform.
IO.Anywhere™ modular data centers provide enterprise-class infrastructure that
can be delivered as Data Center as a Service and rapidly deployed as a product
to customer sites anywhere in the world. IO developed the first data center
infrastructure operating system, IO.OS®, to provide the intelligent control
needed to maximize utilization, resiliency and energy efficiency. IO is a
privately held company headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona.
Right now IO is looking for a strong Thermal Design Engineer for our Product
Development team. The Thermal Design Engineer will act as the lead thermal
design resource for the IO.Anywhere Modular Data Center (MDC) system. This
Engineer will drive all thermal design and validation activities and interface
with multiple stakeholders to define test plans and provide recommendations for
design improvements.
Responsibilities:
Execute detailed thermal analysis using CFD modeling tools.
Provide design support and design recommendations during product design and
development activities.
Work with design team to simulate the desired CFD related behaviors.
Continuously update the modeling practices for enhanced correlation between
CFD analytical results and physical behavior of the MDC.
Develop new CFD practices (tools, techniques, procedures and guidelines) as
part of continuous capability development process.
Interact with design engineers to understand, formulate, and test solutions
for a variety of scientific and engineering problems related to MDC’s.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging techniques,
products and tools.
Conduct simulation and perform synthesis required to successfully
demonstrate the thermal performance of components and their interactions within
the MDC system using math-based methods.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of direct experience in thermal design, characterization,
simulation and verification, preferably in the HVAC field.
Familiarity with the Solidworks Flow Simulation and HVAC tool.
Expert in building CFD meshed models, CFD software tools and techniques.
A strong desire to understand unfamiliar technical material and a
willingness to learn and apply unfamiliar software tools or simulations is
critical for success in this position.
Practical lab experience in both engineering tests and compliance.
Experience of handling potential mutually exclusive requirements of thermal
requirements with other discipline leaders such as Mechanical, Safety and Power.
EDUCATION:
Minimum educational requirement is a Bachelor in computational fluid
dynamics (CFD) or related field with 3-5 years of experience.
Preferred specialization in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and/or heat transfer.
