Description:
Porter McGuffie, Inc. (PMI) is currently seeking a well-qualified and motivated
engineer for an analyst position. This position will be primarily responsible
for performing finite element and computational fluid dynamics analyses. The
work will involve construction of numerical models, application of loads and
boundary conditions, post-processing of results, and applying the results to
real engineering problems. The candidate will interface with clients to gather
required project information and provide on-going guidance to the clients during
projects. Some travel to client sites can be expected.

PMI’s projects typically fill the gap between ordinary design analysis and
applied research. Much of our work is driven by existing equipment failures and
is conducted under tight schedules. Individuals who derive satisfaction from
solving challenging problems efficiently thrive in our environment. Learning
about new industries and new skills is a never ending process at PMI.

Pre-requisites include a solid background in engineering mechanics, including
structural mechanics, fluid and thermo-dynamics and mathematics. The preferred
candidate should have experience with finite element modeling and/or
computational fluid dynamics using commercial solvers (PMI currently uses
products from Altair, Algor and CD-Adapco, among others). The candidate should
have demonstrated experience with 3D modeling (CAD) software. Some programming
will also be required, typically using MatLab. Preference is given to
candidates with excellent written and verbal communication skills, as evidenced
in application materials. PMI will provide on-going training to the qualified
candidate.

PMI will consider both well-qualified entry level (bachelors and masters
degrees) and seasoned engineers with real-world experience, preferably in the
refining, chemical process or power generation industries.

PMI provides a relaxed work environment and encourages its engineers to develop
to their full potential by providing state-of-the-art tools and mentoring. PMI
is an equal opportunity employer.
