SOFTWARE ENGINEER - Geometry

Job Summary:

The Geometry Group of Exa Corporation is seeking a talented Software Engineer
with strong C++ programming skills and good understanding of computational
geometry concepts. The selected engineer will be an important contributor in the
development of Exa’s innovative simulation model preparation software, including
graphical user interface, visual display of geometric models, interactive
geometry and mesh manipulation, mesh morphing, geometry repair and efficient
management of extremely large geometry models. In this position, you will have
the opportunity to:

·Act as a key member of the software development team to contribute in the
development of a unique, feature-based simulation model preparation approach to
support automation and optimization processes for different type of analyses.

·Design and implement various aspects of front end user interactions and visual
display utilize thorough understanding of graphical user interface (GUI) and
geometry visualization.

·Collaborate effectively within a team of highly motivated, talented engineers
to contribute in the development of computational geometry algorithms and CAD
like geometry manipulation.

Requirements:

·BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related discipline.

·1-3 years related experience

·Expertise with design and development of graphical user interface.

·Expertise with interactive real time 3D graphics.

·Excellent C++ programming skills.

·A strong background in designing and developing commercial software systems,
including knowledge of OOD and component based design concepts.

·Experience with and appreciation for operating within a professional software
development process with the appropriate checks and balances.

·Solid English verbal/written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Experience (experience with some of the following is desirable):

·Experience designing and developing commercial software for 3D modeling,
visualization, finite element preprocessing and/or analysis packages.

·Experience with GUI development using Qt.

·Experience using third party graphics packages, preferably HOOPS.

·Experience developing scripting interfaces preferably using Python.

·Mesh generation techniques/toolkits.

·Experience with geometry/CAD software development and usage.

·Geometry kernels (e.g. ACIS, Parasolid, CGAL, Granite, CGM), commercial MCAD
software (e.g. CATIA, ProE, UG), and standard geometry formats (JT, IGES, STEP,
NASTRAN).
