THERMAL APPLICATION ENGINEERS - CFD

Role & Responsibilities:

Exa Corporation seeks Thermal Application Engineers to fill technical positions
in the area of vehicle thermal simulations. The objective of the position is to
develop and validate new simulation methodologies along with best practices
using PowerFLOW code for automotive thermal applications.

As a Thermal Application Engineer you will:  

•Act as a member of the Aero-Thermal Applications Group and be responsible for
developing new technical solutions of interest to the automotive industry which
will require the ability to solve challenging fluid dynamic and heat transfer
problems.

•Perform validation activities of new thermal features and provide feedbacks to
the development team.

•Work with the leading automotive companies and help them solve challenging
problems related to thermal management issues with direct impact on vehicle
design process.

•Communicate with customers and if necessary provide technical support on the
developed applications.  You will also work closely with members of the team and
other groups within the company.

You will report to a Manager in the Aero-Thermal Applications Team and will be
based in Livonia, Michigan (an alternate location may be considered for an
exceptionally qualified candidate).
 
Requirements:

•MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerodynamics, Physics or equivalent.
•Strong knowledge of fluid dynamic and heat transfer fundamentals, preferably
thermal management background with 3-5 years of relevant work in industry.
Candidates with any relevant experience will be considered.
• Strong expertise in using commercial CFD and other CAE tools including 
geometry handling and mesh preparation tools.
•Experience in thermal modeling of automotive HVAC components and system (cabin
cooling/heating, human comfort, fans, heat exchangers and air distribution
system)a strong plus.
•UNIX Skills, script programming such as Python and knowledge of numerical
analysis packages such as MATLAB/Simulink a strong plus.
•Strong English communication skills and good presentation skills.
•Fluency or working level knowledge in other languages a strong plus.
•Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills including multiple project
management.
•Self-motivated individual with a strong work ethics and a desire of continuous
learning.
•Ability to apply advanced level technical skills cooperatively in a
challenging, fast-paced environment on a team with experienced professionals.
•Willingness to travel up to 10% domestic and international.
