the development, sales and support of advanced engineering analysis software
with a worldwide customer base including major automotive manufacturers and
tier one suppliers.

VECTIS and VALDYN.
VECTIS
VECTIS is a three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics program with a
global user base and many years of proven performance. VECTIS has been
developed to specifically address fluid flow simulations in the automotive
sector and has numerous features explicitly designed for internal combustion
engine applications. VECTIS is developed around a completely automatic
hexahedral mesh generator, providing a rapid turn-around time for CFD analyses.
This automatic mesh generation capability gives VECTIS a distinct advantage
over most other commercial CFD tools in that it allows CFD to be an integral
part of modern engineering development programmes.
Job Description
A vacancy has arisen for a CFD developer in Ricardo Software to work primarily
as part of the VECTIS team. The successful candidate will be responsible for
the design and development of computational models within VECTIS as well as the
maintenance and enhancement of existing models within the product. While
successful candidate is expected to work across the range of the computational
models encountered in VECTIS suite, experience in multiphase flow modelling,
moving/deforming mesh, combustion or turbulence modelling would be an advantage.
Requirements
It is expected that applicants will have the following qualifications and
skills:
•Education to an MSc level (PhD preferred) in a relevant discipline
•Sound knowledge of fluid mechanics and computational methods
•Excellent programming skills using Fortran 90/95/2003 but knowledge of other
programming languages (C, C++) is acceptable
•Experience with the applications of CFD using in-house, open-source or
commercial packages
•Experience in the development and implementation of computational models.
•Ability to work independently as well as with others in a geographically
diverse team environment.
•Knowledge of Linux/Windows development environments and revision control
systems is desirable.
•Proficiency with Linux or/and Windows office tools (LaTeX, Open Office,
Microsoft Office)
The role will involve:
•Specification, design and development of technical software solutions for
various flow models within VECTIS in response to product management requirements
•Planning, delivery and management of software projects to specification and on
time in an ISO 9000/TickIT certified environment
•Maintaining and enhancing existing models
•Interface with the VECTIS GUI developers as necessary to generate detailed
requirements
