PRINCIPAL SCIENTIST - COMPLEX FLUID PHYSICS

Position Profile:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Physics Theory and Modeling in our Metro
Boston world headquarters, Exa seeks a Principal Scientist to strengthen our
effort in developing physics extensions of flow simulation software in the areas
of complex and multi-component fluid applications.  

In this role, you are expected to have a thorough understanding of complex flow
and multi-component and multi-phase fluid physics, and thorough knowledge of CFD
algorithms in general. You will be expected to contribute to the product
development of the required physics extensions (analyses, algorithms and models)
in complex and multi-component fluid flows for real engineering applications.
The successful candidate must be creative, and enthusiastic about exploring new
territories in physical and computational science and engineering. Strong
analytical skills and background in mathematics are also highly desired.  You
are also expected to have an effective interaction and collaboration with
physics group members with a variety of technical expertise, as well as with
software developers and applications engineers.  You will play a leadership
role, and be expected to lead projects in a collaborative, collegial environment.

Requirements:

•PhD in Physics or closely related Engineering discipline. 
•Significant background and experience in complex fluid flow physics.
•Deep knowledge of fluid mechanics, numerical methods and numerical analysis.
•Proven excellent creativity for solving difficult physics problems.
•Excellent problem-analyzing and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to succeed in a team environment.
•Adequate related computer skills. 
•Effective English oral/written communication skills.

Additional Skills & Experiences:

The following is desirable:

•Experience with/understanding of multi-scale flow physics.
•Experience with/understanding of lattice Boltzmann methods (LBM).
•Familiarity with software engineering practices in a collaborative environment.
•Demonstrated experience in R&D of complex and multi-component fluid physics.
•Previous experience with CFD/CAE commercial software.
