SOFTWARE ENGINEER - Petrophysics Simulation
Location:  San Francisco, CA

Position Summary:

Exa Corporation is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team
responsible for developing and deploying simulation prediction capabilities for
applications in the field of petrophysics, especially multi-component flow in
porous media.  Based in our Brisbane, CA office, next to the beautiful city of
San Francisco, this position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge
Computational Fluid Dynamics technology based on the revolutionary
Lattice-Boltzmann Method, and to support the business development of emerging
petrophysics-related applications.

Role & Responsibilities:

As a Software Engineer for Petrophysics Simulation, you will:

•Build out a software development framework to facilitate both rapid prototyping
of numerical analysis capabilities and layering of application-specific user
experience functionality on top of core simulation procedures.
•Lead or contribute to software development activities related to computational
image processing, multi-step simulation process workflows, analysis of very
large data sets, and user interface for simulation setup and results analyses.
•Develop efficient/automated test/QA system and procedures.
•Collaborate with primary Software Team (located in Burlington, MA) to
collaborate on software development strategy and implementation for petrophysics
simulation solutions.
•Sometime perform computational engineering tasks including case setup, managing
runs and output data, processing and analyzing results, writing up analyses, and
preparing presentations about the results and work performed.
•Be a member of a cohesive and highly collaborative group with a startup
atmosphere and a clear mission to develop, market, and deploy industry-leading
technology products and services.

Requirements:

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:
•MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Computer Science,
Bioinformatics, or related field.
•2-5 years commercial software engineering experience including coding of
complex numerical analyses, use of a modular multi-user development
architecture, and user experience / GUI design & implementation.
•Strong science/engineering background; exposure to computational fluid dynamics
(CFD) is a definite plus.
•Self-starter, motivated, strong work ethic, ability to thrive in fast-paced
environment.
•Strong English communication skills.
•Excellent problem-solving skills, well organized.
•Ability to apply talents cooperatively as part of a team of professionals.
•Available for occasional US travel.
