Description:

Beyond Process Simulation: Computational Fluid & Particle Dynamics Simulation for CPI

When: January 24, 2013, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Where: Houston Marriott West Loop by The Galleria, 1750 West Loop South, Houston, TX

Do you have challenges with:

  • Increased throughput with minimal modifications
  • Troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment
  • Performance guarantee during FEED studies
  • Design optimization
    • Homogeneous flow distribution
    • Heat distribution and location of hot spots
    • Enhancement in separation quality by geometry reconfiguration
  • Reducing operating costs by increasing yields
  • Reduction downtime and eliminating clogging/fouling
  • Running “What if” analysis for safety and environmental issues

If so, CD-adapco is holding a free, educational seminar on how Computational Fluid and Particle Dynamics (CFD & DEM) tools are being used in the CPI industry to address these questions.

Speakers

Dr. Ning Chai of Dow Chemical will present "Investigation of Confined Jets of High Velocity and Low Reynolds Number."
Dr Santhosh Ramalingam of Dow Chemical will present "Unconventional Tank Mixing."
Mike Basden: A distinguished member of Prof. Eldridge’s team at the University of Texas, Austin’s Chemical Engineering Department will discuss CFD analysis and experimental comparison of a commercial mass transfer column packing unit.
Dr. Ravi Aglave: CD-adapco's Director of Chemical Process Industry, and formerly of BASF, Bechtel and Callidus will present real-world application examples of simulation, addressing challenges in CPI. You will then get the opportunity to try STAR-CCM+ for yourself in a free training session.
