Description:

Announcement:

This is the 3rd Symposium on Slow Dynamics in Complex Systems, which will be held in Japan. The main purpose of this Symposium is to bring together experimentalists, theoreticians and computer scientists for an exchange of ideas and results in understanding the problems of slow dynamics in complex systems.

Despite numerous studies to probe the slowing dynamics by experimental, computational and theoretical means over the last several decades, this problem still remains largely unsolved in many areas of condensed matter. However, recent continued improvements in experimental and simulation techniques may provide a breakthrough in our understanding of this old problem in the near future. This circumstance motivated us to organize a symposium devoted to this topic, further details of which are found in the other pages.

Preparation for the forthcoming Symposium is now well under way. We are greatly encouraged by favorable responses from scientists both overseas and domestic. As of October 22, 2002, the number of confirmed invited speakers is 37, including
6 Nobel Prize Laureates, Drs. Steven Chu, Ivar Giaever, Alan J. Heeger, Brian David Josephson*, Robert B. Laughlin, and Rudolph Arthur Marcus (* to be confirmed). If you are interested in attending the symposium, please fill out the registration form on Web and return it to us by May 17, 2003.

We are looking forward to receiving positive response from you.

With very best wishes,

The Symposium Organizing Committee
