Webinar: Particle Transport in Unsteady, Separated Flow
Dr. Gustaaf Jacobs will discuss the physics of particles in a separated flow in the Lagrangian frame and the computation of these flows with high-fidelity computational methods. Dr. Jacobs is an assistant professor at San Diego State University. His research focuses on the fluid mechanics of separated particle-laden flows and the development of high-fidelity computational algorithms. This event is sponsored by Tecplot, Inc., a provider of CFD visualization software.

Description:

Webinar: Particle transport in unsteady, separated flow
A better understanding of how flow separation and particle dynamics affect important natural and technological situations can lead to any number technological benefits, such as increased fuel efficiencies, lower pollution, better control over plankton concentrations, and improved combustor performance.

In this webinar, Dr.

After a brief discussion of the characteristics and advantages of high-order discontinuous spectral element methods for simulation of unsteady particle-laden separated flow, Dr. Jacobs will present recent criteria that identify the separation location and angle of fluid particles from walls in unsteady and three dimensional setting. The webinar will include a discussion of Lagrangian dynamics of particles and comparison to Lagrangian fluid particle motion and Lagrangian coherent structures.

This event is sponsored by Tecplot, Inc., a provider of CFD visualization software for engineers and scientists who need to analyze, discover, and communicate results.
