FORT WORTH, TX (6 August 2012)—Dr. Michael Remotigue, veteran computational fluid dynamics researcher, has joined the development team at Pointwise, Inc. after nearly 21 years at Mississippi State University.

Dr. Remotigue is best known for his work on the unstructured mesh generation software SolidMesh and SolidMesh++. His contributions to those widely used and distributed research codes run the gamut from user interface development to meshing algorithm coding, customization, and end-user support. Dr. Remotigue also was heavily involved in other meshing research at Mississippi State, including the codes GUMBO, GUM-B, NGP, and EAGLEView.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mike to our team,” said John Chawner, Pointwise’s president. “He brings decades of valuable mesh generation experience and expertise to our organization. Once he has been integrated with our talented technical team, customers may expect delivery of many new meshing technologies.”

Dr. Remotigue earned his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from Mississippi State in 1999, an M.S. in aerospace engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1991, and a B.S. in engineering mechanics from the University of Cincinnati in 1986. He has more than 30 technical publications to his credit, including peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Pointwise, Inc. is solving the top problem facing engineering analysts today – mesh generation for computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The company’s Pointwise software generates structured, unstructured and hybrid meshes; interfaces with CFD solvers, such as ANSYS FLUENT, STAR-CCM+, ANSYS CFX and OpenFOAM as well as many neutral formats, such as CGNS; runs on Windows (Intel and AMD), Linux (Intel and AMD), and Mac, and has scripting languages that can automate CFD meshing. Large manufacturing firms and research organizations worldwide rely on Pointwise as their complete CFD preprocessing solution.
