Create Design Concepts - Optimized for Fluid Flow - Release TOSCA Fluid 2.3.0

Karlsruhe, Germany - August 9th 2012: TOSCA Fluid 2.3.0, topology optimization software for fluid flow systems and components, is now available from FE-DESIGN and its international resellers. The use of TOSCA Fluid early in the design process helps engineers maximize flow efficiency, reduce cost, and improve reliability. Shortcomings in a design concept can be identified and resolved early.

TOSCA Fluid delivers innovative design ideas for a defined flow task, within an available design space. In addition to typical applications such as reducing pressure drop and increasing flow efficiency, more sophisticated tasks such as mass flow balancing, reduction of flow instabilities, and reducing flow-induced noise and vibration can also be solved. Industries which can benefit from optimized designs include automotive, energy, medical devices, HVAC, chemical & process.

TOSCA Fluid enables engineers to achieve higher quality and eco-efficiency. Only one CFD solver run is necessary for an optimization. TOSCA Fluid communicates directly with standard commercial CFD solvers. Existing CFD models can be used immediately.

TOSCA Fluid -with its innovative technology- creates efficient design concepts for internal flow solutions. The product design process is shortened. It is not mandatory to begin with an initial design concept, which is then improved step-by-step. TOSCA enables engineers to complete designs faster, starting, with the available design space and boundary conditions. The result: the most efficient fluid flow through the given design space. Optimized design concepts are then interpreted and manually reconstructed in CAD.

TOSCA Fluid 2.3.0 contains tools for reconstruction of the final optimized design. Interpretation and reconstruction is enhanced by better smoothing technology, with an improved shrinkage correction feature, and more flexible creation of wireframe geometry.

Other new features and improvements in TOSCA Fluid 2.3.0 include:

• Intuitive set-up and enhanced graphical user interface. The setup for parallel calculations is now accessible via the graphical interface.

• Shorter computation times for optimization runs and post-processing, especially for complex large scale models.
