Benefits of Engineering Simulation to be Demonstrated at First-Ever Commercial Industry Forum

SHEFFIELD, UK – January 17, 2008 – ANSYS, Inc., a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today issued a call for papers for the world’s first commercial computer-aided engineering (CAE) conference dedicated to the building services industry. Providing a forum for the application of engineering simulation technology specific to the industry, the European Built Environment CAE Conference (EBECC) will be on June 5 and 6, 2008. The event will be hosted at Haberdasher’s Hall, Smithfield, in London, a city with a great number of architectural attractions, including some of the most innovative building development projects in the world. The EBECC’s evening dinner will be staged at the Tower of London and will feature a tour of the crown jewels.

Presentations are invited from representatives of industry-leading companies to accompany those from ANSYS experts. Papers should highlight innovative and interesting applications using the very latest state-of-the-art simulation technologies in CAE-related disciplines, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for airflow modelling and finite element analysis (FEA) for structural studies. Application examples highlighting the use of integrated multiphysics simulation are particularly welcome. Papers are being sought on application areas including:

. Occupant comfort: offices, atria, public buildings, underground trains and stations

. Specialist design considerations: seismic response, cyclic loading on structures, cooling of data centres

. Wind engineering: pressure mapping, pedestrian comfort, structural loading

· Fire and safety: fire modelling, smoke transport, fire suppression, structural resilience

· Homeland security: explosion modelling, chemical and biological gas spread

· HVAC and refrigeration equipment: fans, chilled beams, facades, diffusers, grills, noise modelling

EBECC presentations will be designed to address industry requirements, demonstrating how analysis has contributed to design and engineering processes and helped assure that operational performance is not compromised. Papers will be given on specific technologies and case studies that highlight best practice, demonstrating both the engineering and business case for the application of CAE.

EBECC is designed to attract a diverse range of stakeholders, providing a rare opportunity to network with directors, managers, partners, associates, consultants and engineers from industry-leading companies

Abstracts of papers should be submitted by no later than February 29, 2008 for consideration; authors of the abstracts will be informed of whether their paper has been chosen by the end of March. Final copies of chosen papers must be provided by April 30. All papers must be written and presented in English. Details of the agenda will be released in early spring.

For information on submitting a paper, visit the event Web site at www.ansys.com/events/ebecc, or email ebecc@ukansys.com. Details of bookings, hotel reservations, or other information also are available on the Web site.
