Solving the overlapping geometry creating new faces |

Hi everybody,
I am dealing with the following problem. I am working on rotating turbomachinery to simulate a pump. Once I have built the fluid volume in solidworks, I have imported the bodies into the design modeler. What happen is that the impeller and the volute are sharing the same face, so I can't define two different interfaces because I have the warning of overlapping geometry. Right, the interface is one so I can't name it twice. Is there a method to create new faces and assign them to different bodies in order to solve the overlapping geometry warning? My question is: is there a method, in design modeler or in solidworks, to create new faces from a single one in order to solve the overlapping geometry? Have you successed in solving your problem? I am having the same problem: One pipe surrounded by nos of small pipe over its circumference. Whats the way to solve it?

Hi nikhi,
Yes, I worked out a solution. Unfortunately, is not what I wanted but it works. Basically when you have two different surfaces with 0 thickness, you can't define (at least from my understanding) the entire model as a single body if you want to have a sliding interface. This imply that you won't have a conformal mesh, but at least you can define the two surfaces with two different named selection. Hope that helps you! |

Yah, I too got the solution I kept only one interface in between the two meting surfaces and declared it as coupled wall for creating interface. That have solved my problem! |
