I am a newcomer for VOF, I simulate the Droplet as attached file, but the Droplet is elliptic, I can not mesh it in Fluent to Patch it, because in Region Adaption of Fluent just mesh for Circle, Cylinder, rectangular. Please help me Mesh it in Gambit.

this is just a split of your domain.
Create your outer domain Create your ellipse. Split your domain with your ellipse (edge if you are in 2d, surface for 3d) That's it. Then assign the domain in the ellipse as a separate fluid for setting it up later in fluent with right vof-bc

As you know, Split the domain, the ellipse and calculation domain become the one face. As I know, VOF is the change of Volume fraction in Eulerian coordinate. If you split and mesh it, will to no grid element inside the ellipse. I do not know how to Patch it? Please show me detail a little assign the domain in the ellipse as a separate fluid for setting it up later in fluent with right vof-bc. Thank a lot. |

assuming you are in 2d
if you split your face with your ellipse (edge), then you get 2 surfaces: the ellipse, and the other (without ellipse) Then assign the ellipse surface as fluid 1 and the other as fluid 2. In Fluent pick both fluid domain and set right vof parameter

hi friendz,
i m stuck with my 2d meshing . actually i m doing quadratic map meshing in 2d CD nozzle . meshing always overshoot from the geometry walls or remain inside of the wall. i have spent lot of time on it . |
