Split Surface-Export Geometry

1 Attachment(s)
Dear all,

I want to edit the geometry shown at the pic. At this I want to create a surface reaching from the outer circle to the one inside (but there shouldn't be a surface covering the area of the inner circle). I want to to this for several outlets. I tried to reach it by creating a surface using the outer circle and tried to split the surface via "Segment/Trim Surface", but this didn't work.
Another thing is, I imported the geometry as *.stl and want to export the edited geometry as *.stl as well, but if I try this I get the message "Geometry already exists" and I cannot save it.
Does anybody have an idea how I can solve these two problems?
Thank you for all help and hints!

error:is not a CAD surface - not facetizing

Dear all,

I was successful now in creating the mentioned ringshaped surface, but I still have problems exporting the whole object.
I merged all faces and tried to export the object as *.stl, but I always get an error message "...is not a CAD surface - not facetizing" and I cannot export it in another kind of data-format as well (ICEM is either shutting down or shows an error message).
Does anybody have an idea how to solve this?
Thank you for all help and hints!

As your first post described, prompt of "Geometry already exists" could be worked around by clicking on close, and then selecting the geometry to be converted. Have not encountered the later situation. Maybe you can attach the file for debugging.

I am meeting the same problem. Import a stl file, edit it and then export the modified one.

I tried icem 12, 13 and 14, and several PCs with win32 and win64. The stl file can only be exported successfully with ICEM 14.
