Dear all,

I have a question about PART creating.
For one surface, we called a wall, this wall includes other surfaces e.g. inlet etc. The question is I create a Part for the Inlet surface, I want to create another Part for the rest area of this Wall except this Inlet area, How to set this Part for the rest area of this Wall?

Please tell me the detailed step for this Part creating.

Many thanks in advance!

Right click on "PARTS" and go to "CREATE PARTS"....after creating inlet surface turn it off under the "PARTS" tree and again go to "CREATE PARTS" and select rest of surfaces and name it accordingly. Hope it helps you

Regards

Dear Madam or Sir,

Many thanks for your quick reply!
I already tried this method indeed, however, after turning inlet surface Part off, the wall still includes all the surface area. I don't know why. I really need select rest of surfaces as another Part called Wall.

Please tell me the detailed step for this Part creating.

Many thanks in advance!

You need two step procedure.

First split the your main part into two parts by using the split with edge

then right click on parts and make the two parts.

Dear Far,

Many thanks for your quick reply!

Since I am a new member, Please tell me how to "use the split with edge" and other steps in detail?

Many thanks in advance!

PLUS: I didn't use the BLOCK, and it is only for the Geometry.
This surface is normal surface not faceted surface, i think.

Please see the attached image. I want to define 2 Parts, one is outlet, another is wall except outlet surface area. Now the wall always includes the outlet surface.

The small yellow one is outlet.

Thanks in advance!

tin file please.

For quick work around, go to the geometry>>> surface>>>> (in 2nd row) split by edge. Select the surface and edge and apply you will get two surfaces. then right click on part >>> crate part and define them separately.

Many thanks!

Please pass me your email address, I can't transfer into the zip file or upload tin file in cfd online forum.

For split by edge, I only find "Segment Surface" in surface no split by edge.

From the image, it looks like the two surfaces are already in different parts (which is why you see them in different colors).
