Question about mesh generation learning
Hi,
I'm a college student. I just started to learn mesh generation. For my semester project, I need to generate structured meshes to a complex geometry by ICEM. I followed the ICEM tutorial cases for the Hexa grid generation. But the tutorial only taught me the buttons. For a new geometry, I'm still not able to generate high quality meshes. I need to learn about the mesh choosing strategy and the mesh generation strategy like for what geometry should I go for O-grid mesh and what those O-grid meshes would better be like. The mesh generation books I found mostly talked about the mesh generation and adaptation algorithm. But what I need is only to the application. May I ask you to recommend me a book regarding my need? Thank you very much. I'm looking forward to your answer. lnk |

If there are also any other good ways to learn it besides the book, I would also like to know.

ICEM is different than others meshers, where most of the methods are straight forward to understand. However ICEM gives you broad flexibility to build any complex mesh with little hard work. Definitely this comes at price. The books generally teach you the methods/algorithms, so refrain from substituting them for application of these methods. What I can recommend you is to do atleast two to three tutorials (well you have already done this). The most successful method to learn ICEM is to discuss it with experts (this forum is best place to find one) and to do this you need to show your work done so far and share files if possible. |
