Hi all,
I have a question about ICEM CFD. I just want to export a simple mesh in the *.msh fluent format. So: select tab "Output". Then click on first icon ("Select solver) and selcet Fluent_V6. Next step is click on last icon in the row ("Write input"). Written file would be *.msh file. But, WARNING: Mesh has uncovered edges. ANSYS Fluent needs a complete boundary (lines in 2D) or it will give a variety of errors and not read in the mesh! If this was 2D Hexa, perhaps your edges are not associated with perimeter curves. How is it possible ? Thanx a lot Amir |

Honestly I didnt really understand why, but recently I unintentionally created line elements when during blocking I made an explicit association of an edge to a curve. Maybe thats what you need in this case? Just a guess. Check if your mesh has line elements with the "mesh info" tool.

Hi Amir,
please search this subforum for your issue. Use search terms such as: uncovered edges/faces icem This is a very common issue for beginners. It has been explained in lots of threads here. Make sure every boundary edge is associated to curves. Only then line elements are created. Otherwise, there is a section in the mesh without a proper boundary (for fluent). With regards, Sebastian |
