Is it possible to change the sketch plane in DM?
I am new to DesignModeler and ANSYS Meshing and I have ran into the following problem. I created a 2D surface in DM to mesh and export to FLUENT...
My problem is I created the surface in the YZ-plane and apparently I cannot export my geometry in 2D unless I create it on the XY-plane. This was not the case in Gambit, which I am more familiar with... Is there a way to move a sketch to a different sketch plane? Thanks for any suggestions |
Figured it out!
I figured it out after beating my head against the wall long enough! Here is what I did...
Export a script detailing the desired sketch.... File > Write Script: Sketch(es) of Active PlaneClick on the sketch plane you want your sketch in (in my case the XY-plane) and run the script. File > Run ScriptSimple solution... just not an easy one to pin down if you are used to other programs such as SolidWorks and Gambit |
Hello,
I have also read in DesignModeler instructions from ANSYS about the function called "Sketch Instance". May be it will help the others. "Sketch instance allow you to place copies of existing sketches in other planes" (C) Best regards, Novosiberian |
Comment about Sketch Instances
Novosiberian:
I had tried that but it did not work in my case as I wanted to move the sketch to the XY-Plane. Here is a snippet from the ANSYS manual explaining it in more detail. Quote:
