ANSYS meshing

I need to mesh an airfoil (a wing) which has been placed inside a domain. The airfoil is in the middle of domain and cannot be reached easily.
My question is, how can I mesh the airfoil using ANSYS meshing to improve the quality of mesh? I have used edge sizing (soft or hard behavior) to refine the mesh at the trailing edge but no matter what I put in number of divisions, the minimum orthogonal quality of the mesh is still very low. Please see the screenshots. |

Can you show an image of the mesh on the wing. Is the trailing edge sharp or blunt? Are the elements you want to improve surface or volume elements?
You'll probably want to leave the edge behaviour to Soft as it is more robust. What Advanced Sizing Function have you set? If you find it difficult to reach the wing (since it is inside the fluid domain) then assign Named Selections to the farfield faces and then choose Visible = No. I find that the best (only?) way to get to bodies inside domains for external aero meshes. |

If you want to make a hexahedral element C-grid around the wing then you will need to modifiy your fluid domain in a CAD package (ANSYS DesignModeler will do the job) into the individual blocks that you want. This is because you cannot make blocking tolopogies in ANSYS Meshing like you can in ICEM and so you must make your blocking topology at the CAD stage rather than the mesh generation stage. Once you've done that bring it back to ANSYS Meshing and apply your element sizings and distributions of choice.
