problem in HEX-tet mesh generation in ICEM
1 Attachment(s)
HI,
i am attaching the geometry for which i have generated elementary mesh in icem but i want tet mesh on the surface and remaining region i want hex mesh. I am new to ICEM. please help me by guiding the steps of generating a hybrid mesh and providing a link for and good ICEM tutorial . thanx:( |
steps for converting quad to tetra.
1- go to "edit mesh" tab, you find convert mesh icon there 2- select convert quad to tetra. now you have to select only the quad in that surface this is how you will do it: select only one quad, then use the filter "select all items attached... up to a curve". you will then have all the quad surrounded by a curve selected. middle mouse button that and you will get your tetra. |
Hi Ali,
Thanks for the help ,I am unable to get good ICEM tutorial which include all the key ideas how to generate mesh using ICEM if you have any material about it or you know any site please do reply. and you can also mail to me at himanshu90sharma@gmail.com regards Himanshu sharma |
have you got access to customer portal in ansys's website ?

i am a student at IIT using the non commercial student version of ansys.

Hi,
I have generated have generated this hexahedral mesh but due to transition in the geometry i am not able to control becoz i think i am not able to connect the vertex with the curve. please can you help me with the procedure doing it i have attached the block picture of the geom and i am unable attaching the ICEm file please help Becoz i am very new to ICEM.:confused::(Attachment 16366 Attachment 16367 |
is there a blocking there ? can you share your project ? i'll take a look at it

No need to add prisms if you want all Hexa. See this one as well.

Ok. Here it is prism + tetra mesh. Very few clicks and done (less than one minute)

unable to generate volume mesh
hi,
how to convert this into Hex -volume mesh so that i can use this in the CFX solver i have genereted the mesh but while i am saving the file in .uns formate it showing me error again and again......i am stucked again.... so... please help again...!!!! |
You are talking about HEXA meshing previously done!!!
1. Create inlet, outlet, and wall surfaces or whatever as deemed necessary. This is done on left pan and right click on part and then create part. 2. Dont forget to create the unstructured mesh by right click on the premesh and then create unstructured mesh. 3. Go to output panel and do following a) select the solver ANSYS CFX b) Do not set the boundary conditions c) output the mesh 4. Open CFX pre 5. Make new case with general settings 6. Import mesh and in the import mesh panel choose the ICEM mesh (*.cfx, *.cfx5). Also choose the appropriate mesh units. |
hi if i have time sent to you a tutorial . i am new like you in icem cfd .
