Here is the detailed discussion where taylor couette flow is dicssued in great detail. One of the problem discussed in this thread is the use of double periodicity

This problem has the rotational (to computational cost so only 45 deg is modelled) and transitional peridicity (to solve the infinite cylinder) at the same time. It was not possible to apply the both periodicities in ICEM. Note that this procedure is applicable for any Fluent mesh, whether created in ICEM, Gridgen or Gambit.
