Geometry accuracy problems

I am working on a simple 2d airfoil problem. When I generate the geometry for my airfoil Ive noticed that curve used to describe the airfoil is created out of very short straight line segments. At first I thought this wouldnt be a problem but even with relatively large elements at the leading edge, the elements are much smaller than the line segments. The mesh follows the discontinous curve and in my test runs leads to a poor solution.

Im not 100% sure that the flawed geometry is the source of the poor solution or something else, but I would like to rule it out.

How to improve ICEMs curve generation? I would have assumed that ICEM uses splines like GAMBIT but that doesnt seem to be the case. I have tried to improve the curve by changing the tolerance settings but I havent seen any change?
Any suggestions?
