I am doing theA 2412 airfoil, but when i am entering the Meshing, there is a error message prompted out.
why actually is the problem? My geometry is 2d, which i already defined in the Geometry Properties before i started everything. |

I'm getting an exact same error! I'm trying to import naca0012!
Did you find any solution to this? I made sure in tools->options->geometry import->analysis type is 2D Thanks |

I am having a same problem, I imported the NACA 0012 to meshing successfully but the problem appeared when i modified the airfoil with a flap.
would appreciate if you share any answer you may have found. Regards Hooman Master of aerospace engineer-UPC hooman.abbasi@estudiant.upc.edu |

Hi Hooman,
Workbench is really strict about the format of your text file. Make sure: 1) No repeated number 2) last entrance must be a 0 3) tools->options->geometry import->analysis type is 2D I attached my text file for NACA 63815 that worked for me! Hope this helps, Arshiya Quote:

Arshiya
thank you for your reply. the geometry and the curv works properly, the tricky thing is that I did a small modification to the airfoil: and after opening the ICEM,an error appears as : plugin error no valid bodies found for 2d analysis in part part but the window proceeds anyway. going to continue to see if i will encounter other problems in next steps. Another problem is that, considering that i am using a C-shape mesh and devided it into 4 faces one of the faces can not be mapped. I was wondering if you know a way to overcome this problem. taking into account that my geometry is not symetry anymore( because with the airfoil alone, it worked properly) the face that I marked blow can not be mapped and due to that the distribution of cells are not as requierd. |

I don't have much experience with airfoil flap meshing. I hope it works for you.
It's really easy to create a C-mesh for a non-cambered airfoil! But, since my airfoil was cambered I encountered some difficulties. I ended up dividing my domain into 5. Created mapped mesh for 4 sections away from my trailing edge and manually meshed the trailing edge until it looked okay! Please, let me know if you found a better way of doing this! Arshiya Quote:

Dear Arshyia
I tried to begin with a simple mesh but i encountered a problem of the mesh interfering with my geometry, may I see how did you define the 5 faces to be mapped ? |

Hi friends,
I am a beginner in CFD and I've got the same error of Mr. "mrbraker". Could you please help me with handle it? I designed a block and attached 3 boxes to it (to represent 2 inlets and 1 outlet). I did that since I don't know if it's possible to select only a surface area of the block to represent which one of the inlets and the outlet. When I tried to follow to mesh block, so I got the same error message: "PlugIn error: No valid bodies found for 2D Analysis in part Part". I'll appreciate your help. Thank you all in advance. I had similar problem. I searched a lot. I am not sure if you created the picture with 2D diagram. I had created with 2D diagram and got this error message. So, on the screen click on geometry. Then on the right you will get the detail information. There your Analysis type may be 2D. Change it to 3D and most probably your problem will be solved. Mine was solved in that way.
I hope this works[/QUOTE] |

Hi,
I am novice in ANSYS. I wanted to mesh cambered airfoil but I am not able to make projections in the geometry section. Can anyone suggest ways to make C-Mesh for the cambered airfoil. I was following this tutorial but unable to make it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAIB...tt5DtU&index=3 |

Hi there i too faced similar problem with naca0012 airfoil
make sure the imported data has zero in last row and ensure line body suppress projections are as it is.. it worked for me |

This worked for me too. I was getting the same issue as everyone above and solved it by changing the analysis type to 3d. If it actually is a surface, it will only be modeled as 2D. This can be verified when you go to open the "Setup" module. After double clicking it, a window pane will open (the one that allows you to select different number of cores, etc) and you'll see it is modeled as 2D. |
