Hi,

i want to resolve an aerogenerator blade. But my flow domain is a little bit complex. For this reason, firstly I´m trying to simplify my geometry and flow domain and i´m trying to resolve something easier. I´ve done a first blade without twist and a flow domain like tutorial ICEM CFD Hexa 2D Airfoil meshing from youtube. I´ve done the mesh and the same steps in tutorials ICEM CFD, convert to unstruct mesh and apply boundary condition and then I try write input and i get a message like this:

WARNING: Mesh has uncovered faces. Fluent needs a complete boundary (shells in 3D) or it will give a variety of errors and not read in the mesh!

obviously when i open the mesh in fluent... gives me an error.

Thank you in advance

Your blocking strategy is not good, you have to add o-grid around the wing. altough this is not the cause of you error... do a search of the terms "blocking" "wing" the subject has been treated thousands of time in the forum. if you can share your project , please do so...

Hi diamondx,

my blocking strategy has a o-grid. I have donde exactly the same, like video i wrote before. I´m thinking that i´m doing something wrong when i associate edgo to curve. Yes, i did your search but i can´t solve the problem. I can share my project of course.

Thank you for your coment

look at what you have below, these are very bad elements:

Follow the steps in this video, Mr FAR is meshing a 3d model...

Of course come back to us you can't do it

Hi diamondx,

thank you for your answer. I´ve seen this video before and I´ve done Hexa Mesh Generation for a Pipe with Embedded Blade tutorial cos is very similar. Now i´m attaching a picture of my quality premesh. You said me before that i have to do an o-grid. I did it. But this edges (o-grid) I associated them to the profile (this profile is on the wall), for this reason i think you said this before. I think that is confused and as you can see, all this bad elements are on the wall. I don´t know if you can understand me. Maybe this is the problem? On the other hand the two vertices you´ve marked are not associated with any point (like video in youtube about meshing 2D profile).
Thank you again.

what i showed you in the picture was not about the vertices but squeezed element ... you are using 2x2x2 determinant to check a quality of a 3d geometry, use 3x3x3...
I'm not sure i understood what you said.

This is the kind of blocking you should make :

Hi diamondx,

I understood your blocking strategy. I did it. But, before i want you see my mistakes and how i did the o-grid blocking. Now, i understand why all bad elements were fixing on wall. If you don´t mind I`ve uploaded a video with the first o-grid i did. This way you can see what i refered yesterday.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxkBO...ature=youtu.be

And now I got your blocking strategy (i think so)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7rsV...ature=youtu.be

Please, can you comment the mistakes?

I want to make sure before other more complex level.

Thank you a lot.
