Internal walls at slices in geometry

Hello folks,

I'm new to CFD and thought I was progressing well, however I'm stuck with a mesh that won't behave itself.

As a starter I'm going through the standard 'flow over a cylinder' case. I have the geometry and mesh looking good - however when I load the mesh into fluent internal walls appear at the lines where I've cut the geometry.

This appears to be a common problem for beginners but the common solution of making all the bodies one part doesn't solve it for me. I had a similar problem two days ago and that worked fine but for some reason today it isn't working.

Any thoughts? I've been at this for about four hours and aren't getting anywhere. I've searched the forum, google and the rest.

Cheers

I fixed the problem, but I've no idea why it happened in the first place.

I went back to the geometry and named every section a unique name - they were all 'surface part' or something similar. For some reason the mesh now gives the borders the internal property instead of walls, and calls them one of the names I supplied.

I'm a bit confused as to why that made a difference but at least I can get on with my project.
