Wing Inside Cylindrical Domain. Block Strategy

5 Attachment(s)
Hi guys,

As some of you know, Iīve opened some threads asking some ideas for mesh a wing in a cylinder. I want to say too, thanks to you guys, I can improve faster in a lot of ICEMīs facets. Hence, I want to share with you what I believe can be one solution of this problem. I supposed, a lot of you can, think and do, the blocking strategy in 5 minutes but for beginers like me, maybe, it can be useful. For that reason, I want to share with you the steps and, if it's possible, I would like someone respond my final doubt about other approach Iīve done.
I would like to say too, that this approach is the fruit of mix Simonīs video approach (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EknKVAJGEJ8) and O-grid's phylosophy.

1- Create Block around the geometry.
2- Create O-grid.
3- Create a second O-grid.

4- Split block like picture 1
5- Move vertices to get visual space
6- Associate edges to curves
7- Collapse block behind wing

8- Split block
9- Merge blocks
10- Merge vertice
11- Delete block inside wing
12- Move vertices for better quality

Here the last pictures. Iīve tried to describe in detail as much as possible.

Anyway, like Far said in [ICEM] Structured Hexa Mesh on Wing

"... for wing with sharp trailing edge, the best domain is circular (hemisphere in 3d) shape at inlet and rectangular at outlet (cylinder)"

Making this approach I can understand better this statement.

Hi.

I see you have good blocking . Need more discussion :)
