Question Meshing of a UAV

I have a UAV to mesh. The problem is that the geometry is imported from Pro E and is assembled from a large number of surfaces. Now here's the question should I make the whole, say, wing a complete faceted surface or leave as it is and generate mesh.

Your question is not clear. You want mesh on your model?

For external flow you should make the enclosure. It can be of any shape cylindrical, sphere, hemisphere in front and cylindrical in rear or rectangular.

I think it depends on which software you would want to mesh, more patches would involve in generation of more connections, more blocks and more time. Converting it to a faceted one should alleviate most of the problems.

I am using Ansys ICEM. As you know Pro E files are read as splines in ICEM converting those to faceted would not cause any inaccuracy? Secondly I'm thinking about unstructured mesh generation not the structured using blocking.

There you can use patch independent option. So no need to make faceted geometry?

Do you have an idea that how would you convert your geometry to faceted?

Any how you should use patch independent option to make mesh for the geometry where there are too many surfaces and having small gaps as well.

I can send you some tutorials on that or you can find them in help menu of ICEM.
