how can I mesh this geometry

Hi there,

My model has a big chamber and two narrow inlet/outlet channels as in the pic.
Attachment 21070
What I want to get is that there is refined mesh in two channels and smooth transition in conjunction part. I tried to use a small total mesh size but got very coarse mesh in the channels.
Can anyone told me how to properly mesh it? By the way, is there any mesh tutorial that I can learn? I haven't found any by now. Thanks!

You could mesh the edges first and then specify the min element size. This should give you local control over the mesh.

You can also chose meshing method as additional input.
