Ansys meshing - unwanted edge splits
I am having an awkward problem in Ansys (14.5) - workbench - design modeler - mesher. Perhaps it is obvious to some of you ... could you please help me on that?
In Design modeler I have a continuous edge (top figure). I then save and import it to the mesher (i.e. "update geometry from source"). This edge (but also several onthers) in the mesher appear segmented to small and large parts that I would like to avoid for a good sweeping. The geometry is parametric, so virtual topology here is not an option.
I am attaching also a picture in the hope that somebody has a trivial answer.

did you fix your problem? I have same problem and it's very annoying :confused:.
in Design modeller, use share topology option, then it highlight problem of edges
These edges occurs when the bodies are connected to other bodies.
if possible use virtual topology option in mesh may be it merge the edges and faces
undesired edge splits
Hopefully this helps: click on the part in the DesignModeller tree, and in the details view, change the ‘Shared Topology Method’ to ‘Imprints’. If this option is not selected, the edges may be split when brought into Ansys Mechanical.

Thank you for your great hint, but it actually didn't work for me....
Instead, I chose “None” for “Shared Topology Method” and then it worked!
I have done some searching on the forum and elsewhere but haven't been able to find a solution to my issues that is closer to what is posted here. Generally I am having the same issue but the solution is not working.
I imported a ring from ProE into Ansys. An import is required as there are alot more parts that are coming along also. When I mesh it though Ansys seems to split any ring ling objects into two halves. When meshing I then get strange inconsistencies in the mesh at the joints.
In the model I am showing the axial splits are to allow for refinement at the front and back and allow for a better mesh in the middle. The concern shows up at the front. The split was completed and then the three section joined in a new part. I changed the "Shared Topology Method" in design modeler to Auto / Imprints / None and got more or less the same result all three times.
Is there another way to make Ansys recognize that a round surface ONE surface is and not to split it into two? for reference I selected the inner face to show where it is splitting.
