Default Meshing of a Flat perforated plate (Zero thickness)

I am trying to analyze the flow through a flat perforated plate kept at the middle of the duct.

Since it is of zero thickness, there will be connectivity issues when generating mesh. I am planning to make a structured mesh using blocking technique in ICEM CFD.

I would like to know if there is a way to unpaste the surface of the perforated plate such that the plate has imaginary thickness and hence two surfaces: top and bottom.

Technically, the plate of zero thickness will have (nearly) the same characteristics as a plate with t/d ratio of 0.015; where t is thickness of plate and d is the diameter of the hole on the perforated sheet. How about modelling it like that?

Be aware that if you decide to go like this, you need at least three elements along the thickness (with recommended value of 5).

Thanks a lot for the prompt reply.
Please find attached the pictures of my model.

I can assume a small thickness, but I don't know if it would come well. The problem statement given to me specifically stated zero thickness. I know there will be difficulty while mapping.

But is there a tool in ICEM blocking so that it creates two different surfaces on the plate?

the meshing process can be long but not difficult. make various split and association for the holes, for the plate you will need to associate face with surfaces. since you have a pattern, a more convenient way to do it is to block and mesh one sector; and duplicate that with either transforming the blocks or the mesh...

There is no need to give thickness to plate for meshing purpose. Just make the o-grids for holes and associate face to surface for zero-thickness plate be recognised by ICEM.

Hi guys:

I need your help please, It is urgent!!

I'm currently having the same issue. However, the difficulty arises as I'm assuming surfaces along all the geometry, instead of solid. There is two flows, one goes axially (a) through the big holes and the other enters circumferential (B) and then goes through the small holes. You can find the attached of my geometry.

It is a combustion process. Air enters axially and fuel goes through the holes (B) and then enters into the smallest holes

1) Will I have problems in either the meshing or simulation by assuming no thickness?

2) if there a essay way to block all the holes?. There is actually 900 holes and no time to mesh and associate each hole.

3) should I assume fluid at the inlet>, before the air enters axially, at the inlet of each fuel inlet? and fluid in the mixing zone?

I really appreciate your help. I'm quite new on meshing 3D geometries
