Hello nabaen,
It seems you have already selected 7 of 9 faces, and clicked "extrude faces" button. After that select "extrude along curve" in the "method" drop down menu. Then select all the 9 faces, and icem cfd will prompt you to select a curve. Then, select that line connecting the red points, which are located at the ends of the frustum. Finally, select the red point located at the narrow end of the frustum and apply. Hope this helps. |

Unfortunately, I cannot open the project file. Some attributes might be missing. About the geometry, are you sure the curve you select is cut at the point on the wide side of frustum? If not you can try segmenting it like this
Geometry tab->Create/Modify Curve->segment curve. Then select the curve, then select the point and apply. If you receive the same error message, then try extrude faces->interactive. Select the same faces, move your mouse and associate the edges and vertices to anywhere you want ont the narrow surface of the frustum. |

Thank you for your reply.
I received same message for interactive extrusion. "Extrusion of faces failed. |

I think I can suggest that you do an extrusion using a simple geometry like a rectangular prism from scratch and maybe you'll notice what is wrong. Or you can simply associate and move the edges and the vertices at the wide surface of the frustum to the other end and go with only slicing the blocks without extruding them.

I tried on your geometry and extrude along curve is not working. So i used simple extrude command (fixed distance and it is working)
blocking is also attached. Although some problems are still there, but blocking is complete |

Dear all,
I am a beginner in Icem. Please help me for meshing the cyclone.I could make a block for cyclone using your advice.as you can see in the picture. Now I have problem for making mesh.when I mark "pre-mesh" a few line only appears in geometry.would you please advise me for steps of meshing? |

Some bad meshes are in the inlet as you can see in the attached picture. So I tried to use your blocking strategy for this part. But it doesn't work.Would you please help me to improve this part. Thanks a lot. |

But your mesh is better than mine. How is it possible to use unstructured mesh in this part? Then output to fluent will be different ?Should I use multi block? |

My signature will bring you to a small documentation you can read about how to merge tetra and hexa if you ever decide to do that.
There is also this interesting youtube video on how to mesh a cyclone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KabKFrJK3fM |
