hi, does anybody know how to stitch two same faces having different mesh topology in fluent?
The geometry is quite long ,hence i had to split the geometry in various parts normal to the flow(I did this in gambit and checked "not connected") Its an enormous problem in fluent.I am able to form one interface combining two separate interfaces that i had named in gambit.but still there are default interiors being created and when I am trying to run calculations,It creates some "empty surfaces". I have no idea what to do..I am not able to successfully delete the default interiors!! while trying to run Graphics and Animation and displaying contours for those interior faces.. the error is : "Note: zone-surface: cannot create surface from sliding interface zone. Creating empty surface." I had divided the geometry into 8 volumes and the error is displayed(of course!!) 7 times for each partition instance... |

can you post a picture with details where are your splits, etc...

gee!, that is something i am not allowed to do..but thanks for replying..but take a mock example.. think of a cuboid..and split it in half by a plane and the "connected" option is ticked off..
I am attaching 3 pngs. full_cuboid.jpg 1.jpg 2.jpg .It is the same cuboid nevertheless and the fluent analysis will be for the whole cuboid.. In first pic..it is the entire cuboid with inlet to the right and outflow to the left.It has symmetry for the entire face facing down. In second the first volume's leftmost face 'A' is meshed with a boundary layer and tri-mesh. In third, the second volume's rightmost face 'B' is meshed with entirely different topology for some reason. In fluent the surface A and B are to be combined to form an interface.. and fluid passes normal to it...but the problem stated above has listed the multitude errors that i faced..instead of just one division the entire cuboid can be divided into many volumes.. i hope you got the error This is the warning i get when i read the mesh in fluent "Warning: Partition method "Metis" is not allowed for autopartitioning for cases with nonconformal interfaces before the interfaces are defined and intersected, use "Principal Axes" instead. You may use the "Metis" partition method after the case is read in and the interfaces are intersected. auto partitioning mesh by Principal Axes, distributing mesh parts........, faces........, nodes........, cells........, materials, interface, domains, zones, default-interior inlet wall1 sym1 int1 int2 wall2 sym2 outlet fluid parallel, Done." |

But when I see your domain, I assume you can run it easily in serial, and you won't have any partition problem
