Hello guys,
I know that this is not a new problem but I really don't know how to fix it in my case. I have uncovered faces in a diffuser between a normal and o-grid block. In pre-mesh everything looks good. When i export the mesh into Fluent i get an error "Aborted due to critical error". I think i have a problem with the associations. My o-grid ends in the splitted face. Please look at the pictures, that I have uploaded. I tried so many thinks, please can anyone help me? |

You can not have a normal block right next to the ogrid block. They have different structures. In general blocking in ICEM produces a structured mesh. This structure propagates through the whole blocking domain. In your case the structure is destroyed at the intersection which then leads to uncovered faces. Check the tutorial manual. There is a tutorial for meshing a duct going from circle to square shape.

Did you try to associate a face from that block to the near surface?

Hello guys,
thanks for helping! As I have done the ogird, there was a transition block between the ogird and the normal block. I deleted this block and moved the o-grid-verices in the plane of the block, because I wanted to improve the mesh quality (stupid) Now, I have created a similar block (see picture newblock) and tried to associate this with the other blocks. All without success. @JohnnyB: Yes I tried to assocciate the near Faces with the Surface. I tried the Method Closest Interpolate, without success. I uploaded a picture. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this problem? Thanks Last edited by manymen; May 16, 2014 at 15:51. |

Can you split this domain in two? Than you can easily generate a mesh for this two domains with an interface between.

The blocking structure is still not correct. The outer ogrid blocks are not connected to any other blocks in -x direction.
