Merge volume meshes Hexa-tetra with ICEM

Hi,
I'm a student of Polytechnic of Bari. I'm working on a 3d model using ICEM. Before posting this new thread, i read existing posts in the forum and i followed the instrunctions for solving my problem with no good results. my model is a postburner with one body which i called FLUID. In this model there are two regions with different meshes: unstructured and structured ones. Following the tutorials, i created these two meshes separately (having same size at interface), i loaded them both together (selecting merge rather than replace), and then i used the merge mesh tool at the interface. Here, I have problems with some elements at interface: 1)penetrating elements; 2)multiple edges 3) non-manifold vertices 4)unconnected vertices. I attach these images to clarify the problem. I would to know how can i avoid these errors or can i repair them. i hope this my exposition is clear and thanks for your attention. Best regards Vincent |
for the unstructured pat, have your run a build topology ??? if i may ask: can you share the geometry ? i can take a look at it..

I thank you for your quick reply. First i checked Geometry and it's all ok. Then I checked the two meshes separatley before merging. For unstructured mesh there are some problems with Delauney violations; for structured one there are stand-alone surface mesh problems. I tried build topology for unstructured part after merging meshes, but it seems problems remain. As requested by you, I attach the geometry and blocking files.

Hello diamond, do you mean why I don't use one structured mesh? because I was playing a project already done with Gambit in which there were two kinds of mesh. For licensing reasons I am forced to use ICEM but I have these problems. I tried to fix it manually by moving the nodes, but then it creates additional difficulties due to violation of the periodicity of the faces. if there are no solutions, I will be forced to adopt a single mesh.

after several attempts I found the solution: the model has regular faces so I should set the condition of periodicity at the vertices of the blocks for the structured mesh. I share this information hoping that it will be useful to anyone who has the same problem.
