hello sir/mam

i am now currently generate an unstructured mesh on 3D airfoil with the following procedures

max size of mesh .005
min size of mesh .002
mesh type " all tri"
mesh method " patch independent"

but when i compute the mesh with this specification, mesh near the edges generate inside the surface but in middle region of airfoil there is no defect in mesh
So, please tell me what can i do so that near the edges mesh will generate smoothly on the surface not inside.

I am enclose image image of mesh

please inform me as soon as possible

Hi Wali,

The function you will need to use is "Define Thin Cuts". Have a look in the help guide for details on how to use it.

Alternatively, you could use the bottom up meshing approach (Patch Dependent Surface Mesh > Delauny/TG/AF). This method will not produce penetrating elements, but it requires your geometry to be perfectly connected.

Good Luck

Stu

Yup, a combination of thin cuts, edge criterion, mesh refinement and other strategies will work. There are lots of detailed posts about these already on CFD online... They should be easy to find with those search terms.

Once you know the name of the option, you can search CFD-Online or the ICEM CFD doc for all the info you need...

hello dear

as i send the problems earlier regarding the mesh
problem is like that when i draw the patch independent surface mesh on the delta shape surface mesh penetrates the surface and it creates the problem when i draw the volume mesh

can anyone help me this is my post graduation project

as i earlier attach the images of mesh but still again enclose the snaoshot of mesh

please help me

Yes, we understand the problem...

We are telling you that there are several ways to fix it.

1) Setup "Thin Cuts"

2) Refine your mesh

3) Adjust "Edge Criterion"

There are probably a few more, but these are the main ones. We have already posted lots of details on all of these. There is also much coverage in the help doc.

Now you know the names of the solutions, a simple search (the help or CFD Online) will get you what you need to know.
