2D rectangular cylinder using cutcell
3 Attachment(s)
Hi all,
I'm trying to make a 2d mesh of a rectangular cylinder. I've been trying to create a mesh that is fine close to the boundary. I've therefore tried to use cutcell, but I have met some problems: I got an error message using cutcell for a 2D geometry, but works fine for 3D (used extrude in DesignModeller). Which is ok as long as I only have one cell in the z-direction. Does anyone know how to fix the number of cells in one direction?Feel free to add own suggestions/thoughts :) Much appreciated Sindre |
activate the inflation layer in meshing option or assign the body sizing

Hi Vidyanand,
Thank you for a quick response :) I have been trying to assign edge/face sizing. My logic says that I can remove the elements in z-direction by adding a face size and choose an element size equal to the depth. And that I can use edge sizing to remove the small cells along the outer boundary in the XY-plane. So far without any luck. I'll try using inflation and keep try to use sizing :) |
I finally managed to get a fine mesh around the cylinder using CutCell :) I made a box in desingmodeler (Create > Primitives > Box) and then defined the fluid around using Enclosure (Tools > Enclosure) and then used CutCell on Proximity - Faces.
My only problem now is to make it 2D (or to only have one element in the z-direction). The help file states that: Quote:

I have the same target. Make a 2D Cutcell mesh but around of Sellig 1223. Has anyone been successful?
