T_shaped pipe junction geomerty:segmentation of Surface could not work

Hi everyone,

I met a problem when I used ICEM to draw a T-Shaped pipe junction.

I first drew three pipes, vertical tube, horizontal tube1 and tube2. Then I used SURFACE-SURFACE INTERSECTION command to get the two curves at the junction. After that, I wanted to segment the three tube surfaces using Segment/Trim surface by Curves, here the problems came: I could only either successfully segment the vertical tube, or only the two horizontal tubes. After that, the left tubes could not be segmented!

Does anyone know where the problem is? I have struggling with this problem for one day, and any insights are appreciated!

Attached are the geometries. I have segmented the vertical tube and delete the surfaces unwanted on the vertical tube, but could not segment the horizontal tubes using curves10 and curves11 as shown in pic.

Best Regards,

Jing

Hi,

Just an update to this problem. I did it in a new way: First draw two pipes (using circle curve not two arc curves forming a circle)- one vertical and one horizontal. Then surface-surface intersection to get two curves, and last segment the two tubes. It worked.

I don't know what the problem with the previous procedure. But the new way worked for me now.

If anyone know the problem of the first way, I'm happy to know.

Cheers,

Jing
