JAISE15 is on a distinguished road
Hi,
I'm new to design modeler and ansys.
I want to set a portion of a face as velocity inlet.

I have created a 3d model of a heat sink. And have created 2 symmetry planes to make it a quater.. and on the enclosure I want to select a specific region for velocity inlet.

But since in the enclosure we can't create an imprint face what can i do.
please reply.
Also what should be the meshing criteria when meshing a heat sink with size of 80mmX60mmX25mm having holes of size 1mmx1mmX1.7mm. like what kind of refinement should be give, what is the element size. etc
Thanking you in advance.

siw will become famous soon enough
There is no real answer to the question about what element size should I use etc. You need to do a mesh sensitivity study. Make a good quality mesh that you think it suitable, run the simulation and note the results that are important to you. Globally refine the mesh (or locally refine if your running low on PC memory) and re-solve. Do that until the important results do not change more than an acceptable tolerance that you are happy with. Only then will you know what element sizes are suitable. This study should be done for all simulations as it assess one of the major sources of error.
