Meshing problems

Hello everyone. Sorry for a bad english, but i try to explain my problem.

I am meshing journal bearing with oil inlet, and all of my attemps unsuccessful.
I had to slice the geometry because of poor mesh quality.
1-thin film
2-inlet pipe
and now i have a problem with connection of 2 fluid zones

I tryed recomendations from this thead but it doesn't help

Could you tell me what i should to do. Maybe i have missed something important.

your problem description wasn't clear.

Please upload your case file if possible.

Hi Aleaxander,

If I am not wrong, you have created two separate volume meshes for thin-film & inlet-pipe and trying to define a non-conformal interface between the two volume meshes/zones.

What is the problem you are facing in defining the non-conformal interface. Does Fluent gives some error message? Or you don't see fluid flowing from inlet pipe into thin film region?

Having said that, creating a single connected / conformal mesh is possible for your case, if you are using Multi-block approach.

There is no any error message from fluent. I see it by the pathlines. Fluid doesn't flow from inlet into film region. Sometimes it look like in attach.

I have changed the geometry.

Hi Aleaxander,

I examined the case file, the interface looks just fine.

When tried to run the case setup as it is, I observed a pathline similar to what you got. i.e., flow not going from inlet zone to film zone.

But I was not sure whether the issue is with interface or not. So, I tried running the case with velocity inlet (0.25 m/s randomly taken this value) and its working fine. Please see the attached picture.

As I said, the interface looks just fine. Please revisit pressure values at the boundaries....

All d best!!!

Happy Learning!!!

Thank you!!! I could not imagine what the problem is. Using velocity-inlet boundary instead pressure-inlet helps. It is interesting why this is happening.

I will try to improve my model so maybe there where any questions=)
