Hi,

I'm trying to make a Hexa mesh around the ICEM CFD submarine geometry that comes with the installation. I've modified the tutorial geometry by deleting the fluid domain and duplicating the geometry across the symmetry plane.

I've attached images of the submarine and the domain (large hemisphere and cylinder) with 2 C-Grids - the submarine is small and at the centre of the hemisphere. I've made 2 C-Grids, one inside the other. The outer C-Grid is to allow control of larger cells at the farfield. The inner C-Grid to is to further split around the submarine.

But since I never have success with Hexa blocking I don't know what is the best way to continue. For example, should the inner block of the C-Grid be associated to the submarine surface? But that would then make problems for splitting out the sail and tailplanes. I've sketched on paper what the mesh should look like but as always don't know how to get ICEM to do the same.

Siw, you should tackle this geometry as an aeroplane and apply those steps you have learned in wing body hexa tutorial.
