Hey guys,

I'm trying to rotate a thin round edge about the x-axis for 90 deg to convert a 2d drawing into a 3d. Whenever I use a thick surface, rotation happens with no prob and the mesh is perfectthick_surface.jpg. The issue arises with the thin surface and the mesh is just not rightthin_surface1.jpgthin_surface2.jpg. Please take a look at the pictures and any suggestions to fix the issues are the most welcome.

Cheers

Ruben

For thin edge (i am sure you are talking about zero thickness), just close the region and you are done

Hi Sijal,

Thank you for your suggestion. I meant that when I'm using a thickness of 2cm or above, I'm able to obtain the correct mesh. But when I'm using a thickness of less than 2 cm, I'm having the issues that I showed in the pics. For my work, a thickness of 0.4 cm is required as it consists of the solid material. I did close the region but I'm still having those issues.

what problem you are getting?

Try to increase the no of nodes and also trying to reduce the triangulations tolerance from 0.001 to 0.0001 or even lower value

I've posted 2 pics online, one with a thickness of 2cm 2cm_thicness.jpg and one with a thickness of 1cm 1cm_thickness.jpg. Even though I change the toleance level as you can see, the meshing for the 1cm thickness is messed up.

Hi mate,

THx for your help. I did figure it out. The rotation with very thin edges of less than 1 cm needs to be at a smaller angle say 10 deg. Then increasing the number of copies to the desired angle of rotation should do the trick. I've posted a pic with a thickness of 1cm as shown and incresed the number of copies to 36 to create a 360 angle of rotation.Screenshot 2014-08-15 21.03.05.jpg
