Default Issue creating a mesh around a 3D "whale-wing"

So I am attempting to mesh a "whale-wing" in ANSYS. I already created the geometry, but when I attempt to make the mesh, I keep getting an error stating that the mesh failed. I believe it may have to do with my geometry. I made the wing and created a box around it; I then removed the wing and made sure the box was a "fluid". My issue here was that every-time I extruded the box through the wing, the two parts became one. The only way I was able to get around this was by setting the "operation" for creating the box to "frozen". This seemed to do the trick, but I believe my methodology may be the reason why ANSYS is not liking my mesh.

So I guess a simpler question would be: how do I make an unstructured mesh around a 3D object? I am rather new to CFD and ANSYS, so hopefully this question makes sense. I attached some images to help clear up what I'm talking about.

Thanks!

Try the following:
1. Freeze your solid volume before making fluid volume.
2.Keep your 'fluid volume' as a seperate part (there should b 2 parts)

Instead of creating the fluid volume manually, you can use "Enclosure" tool to do all of this.

For unstructured mesh, follow this step.
1. In the meshing application make sure there is no solid body. If you find your 'wing' solid body then suppress it.2
2. Right click on the Mesh and inset meth. Set method to 'tetrahedron' & 'patch independent'
3. Mesh it!
