meshing large size geometry
hi
my geometry is so large about 75 mb and have many details that can not omit them. however my computer has powerful cpu and 32 gig ram but i have trouble to mesh it. anyone know how to mesh this large geom? thanks in advance for your kind helps. |
Hi irooni
I reckon by sizing function you can get coarse and fine mesh where it is required thus reducing number of elements. or you can divide the geometry in several parts and mesh them all separately. This way you have a faster mesh and you dont have to worry about number of elements. Hope this helps, Cheers KAPI |
hi kapi
thanks for your attention. in the case of separating the geometry do you mean import geometry one by one separately then how can join them together ? or you mean to import the geometry completely then separate it to some block then mesh the blocks one by one ? and about your first method i really dont get it well may i have more explanation? |
Hi Irooni,
I reckon your main problem is not the big geometry, the problem is number of elements mesh is making on it and that is why it is not able to run. To reduce number of elements you can either do these things Assuming that you have multiple parts in your geometry, Import different parts separately in design modeler and mesh them separately but make sure your have similar mesh in contact regions which you can do by face/edge sizing. You can bring/import them all together in fluent/cfx or wherever you intend to use the mesh. Quote:
You can also change the global min/max size and use to reduce your number of elements in the mesh. Aim for lesser elements but with that your accuracy will reduce hence my suggestion is to mesh multiple parts of geometry separately and bring them all together I hope I am able to explain you this time. thanks for your kindly complete response. it,s really help
